winter csa: march

1. the bounty

  • 1 head red cabbage
  • 5 lbs potatoes
  • 2 black radish
  • 2 white turnips
  • 1 kohlrabi
  • 3 lbs carrots
  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes
  • 1 bulb garlic
  • 3 dozen eggs

veggies:
  • red cabbage: $5 (organic)
  • potatoes: $10 (organic)
  • black radish: $2 (csa estimate)
  • kohlrabi: $2 (csa estimate)
  • carrots: $15 (csa estimate)
  • sweet potatoes: $6 (organic)
  • garlic: $1 (organic)
  • eggs: $15 (farm price)
= $56
actual csa cost per week = $45

i'm so over root vegetables. there. i said it.

  1. In what universe do 3lbs of carrots cost $15? If that were the case, I'd be in serious debt.

  2. apparently (according to ge farm), that's how much they cost farmer's market style. although it's entirely possible that they made a mistake...
